Sopii kaikille ihotyypeille.

Lempi’s Love Soap

“Lempi is love, beuty, attraction, hope and hoping, desire and holding, sweetness and gentleness. She is the one whom men and women turn to when they fall in love, want to be in love, desire another, want to improve their lovelife, and also stop someone from performing well with onother partner! In North Karelia and Karjala young maidens would go to sauna with more experienced women who would sing-chant magic words to bless and purify them for their upcoming marriage or to help them find a man if they hadn’t found one already. Married women do the same but use words to keep their man away from other women or improve their sex life!. This soap is inspired by Lempi and the rising of love. Anis, orange, and patchouli are age-olg aphrodisiacs. Oats, hops, honey, and clary sage are known for their relaxant qualities. With this soap as well as in all things with Love, there is always hope, but no guarantees!.”

Menninkäinen’s Mint

“Mint for refreshing yourself and clearing the senses. Peppermint is for cooling off, refreshing yourself and waking up the senses. In North Karelia mint is grown in many gardens. The tiny menninkäinen that lives in the woods here enjoys mint tea and mint baths. This is one of its secrets in being a very lively and mischievous creature! If you have ever wondered why mint plants disappear, look to the menninkäinen! I use organically grown peppermint and oil from North Karelia. Peppermint soap is great for use on your legs after long days of standing or sitting. Not recommended for face washing.”

Sweet Peat & Rosemary

“While growing up I learned that swamps were dangerous places. You could come up and grab you during the darkness of night should you camp near swamp. Well, now I know better: you can sink there, and drown and there is a creature that lives in the swamp. The swamp’s eye is sometimes covered with moss and peat, but it is a hole which can be very, very deep. The creature is not really a monster but a lonely guardian of the swamp and the creatures that live there. In Finland he is called “Hiisi”. He is actually quite nice, just wants company all the time. Suomi is the proper name of Finland; suo-means swamp or bog and Finland is full of swamps and bogs. I gather suopursu-Labrador tea-for use in the closets during winter. It’s great for keeping moths and other bugs away from the clothes. Delicious cloudberries and gorgeous therapeutic peat grow in swamps. The peat is for spreading all over your body (the origin of the Swamp Monster), sitting in sauna for a short while and getting the toxins out. Suopa is other name for soap. This soap contains lots of peat and honey which is great for all skin and scalp types. Rich lather!”SAPONIFIEDINGREDIENTS:

Forest Magic

“All seasons of the year are magic in the forest. Each season has its own special smells, colours, and music. My favourites are the fall and spring. Fir trees have a special scent, almost as if they are getting ready to slow down for the winter. Sap runs more slowly as the cold weather approaches. Branches brush against the skin and clothes while passing under them searching for the sacred meat of the forest, the mushroom. When wind plays in the branches the music of mystery and longing arises. Smells of the earth with its new cover of fallen leaves all red, gold, and yellow giving back life to the earth and her creatures. The pineglows golden red in the setting autumn sun. Spring brings with it the smell of freshness. Fir and pine give birth to new buds sending off a smell reminding of renewal and rebirth. Small mouse ears, those tiny buds of new birch, tell the story of the power of nature. Thousands litres of moisture are returning and running trough the veins of birch, sending new blood to all those little buds. A rustling musical sound is heard in the wind. Like the skin of a snake birch sheds its outer layer of translucent whitish-grey bark, rattling in the wind, giving rise to the thought that it is time to shed our old skins to give rise to the new. Four seasons soap. Oils are chosen for freshness, forest, earth, and skin. All skin types.”

Pine Tar Magic

“How could anyone imagine to heat up stumps of a tree would produce a thick sticky substance called tar? Only the spirit of Pine could have told a human this! Tar has an ancient tradition in these parts forcuring all sorts of ills inside and outside the body and preserving wood boats, buildings, and furniture. If you can find an old pine with “shield bark”, then you have found a guardian. Its roots are in Mother Earth and branches rise to the skies. For ages it has stood there. It is the guardian of the place, community & family. In Finnish stories and oral tradition, tar is a deep part of everyday Finnish life. Even now it is used actively by old and young. Take away the language in our stories and songs you take away our culture.”

Nettle Wonder

“Stinging nettle is edible, drinkable, and wearable. I’ve heard stories of people using it as sauna vihta/vasta, which is bunch of branches tied together to beat yourself and others in sauna for purifying, healing and cleansing! We eat in soups, pancakes, salads (young sprouts), and breads. We drink it in teas. We pile a bunch of it in a large bucket of water and let it rot; spray the liquid on apple trees and berry bushes as a bug-deterrent; the rotten nettles are buried near the bushes as fertilizer. Nettles are full of minerals, flavonoids and iron. It is known here for lowering blood sugar, relieving pain from rheumatism, being antiseptic, increasing blood flow in the outer skin layer, and even helping with dandruff. This soap contains lots of nettles with rosemary and tea tree essential oils for boosting the antiseptic qualities.”SAPONIFIEDINGREDIENTS:

rapeseed oil*, apricot kernel oil, stinging nettle tea*, lye, castor bean oil, beeswax*, stinging nettles*, tea tree (less than 1%) and organic rosemary essential oils.

Beer Soap

“No calories consumed nor fear of developing a beer belly when using this 100% Finnish beer for hair and skin. You do not häve to drink or like the beer in order to enjoy this soap. This is one of Sola’s tributes to Finnish sauna. When she started this soap the man of the house wanted to know why there were two empty bottles of beer in the soap refrigerator. Thought there was going to be a party. However she is not a beer drinker exept for after sauna, a cold beer, a lake, and a sausage or fresh fish goeas a long way. Beer has been used as a hair rinse for ages. Seems to neutralize static and make hair soft. Could be that beer has hops and barley which are both gentle when used outside of beer. Maybe it is the malt. Maybe it is the high carbohydrates. Whatever the reason, beer soap is gentle, mild and good for all skin types. Unscented.”

Northern Lights

“When the sky is clear, the night cold and the white lights dance, I stand with my hands raised to Sky, close my eyes and listen. I hear the northern lights shimmering, humming and sizzling. I can smell them sweet and crisp. The Peopla say when you see the northern lights the gods are at war or a time of turbulence is approaching. The People say that they are gods dancing. The People say it isthe Dead playing football with a skull. The people say they are the drapes between Earth and Upper Sky with a narrow entrance which only the raven and a strong shaman can pass through. The People say it is a shaman drumming and dancing so powerfully that colour sparks fly from the snow. The People sayit is the shaman making the Sampo. My people say it is the time of magic when one can create, restore, and repair illnesses and relationships. They are a sign to be aware, walk carefully and love hard with all senses open during their dance of beauty and power. This soap is created with the smell of the Northern Lights and the white lights in mind. Refreshing and sweet for all skin and hair types.”

Old-fashioned Buttermilk

“If you do not know about the benefits of good old-fashioned buttermilk, well then, let me tell you. It is good for your stomach. Keeps the acid balance right and calms the stomach more than plain milk. Does not give you so much gas either! Eat good-ole fashioned rye bread with buttermilk, well you then just created your own problems! But they do taste good together. Buttermilk soap has been in long use as luxurious care product. I used to believe that chocolate milk came from one cow’s udder, regular milk from another, and well, buttermilk came from somewhere else. I remember also wonderful, good enough to eat buttermilk and use youghurt shampoos. I remember mother trying to get me to drink buttermilk, however, my taste had not developed back then. Now my taste has developed to drink and make soap of it. Made with 100% organic buttermilk, no added colours or scents. Natural milk proteins, fats, and acids make this bar very gentle on skin and hair. Especially made for tender, dry skins. If you don’t eat it, it is safe for milk-allergy people and lactose intolerant. Unscented.”
